Welcome to Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Allentown is a city located in Lehigh County in eastern Pennsylvania, USA. After Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, Allentown is Pennsylvania's third most populous city.
As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 106,632. It is the county seat of Lehigh County. Allentown is the largest of three adjacent cities that comprise an area of Pennsylvania known as the Lehigh Valley, with the cities of Bethlehem and Easton surrounding.
Lodged between two of the largest United States cities, Allentown is 50 miles (80 km) north of Philadelphia, the fourth largest city, and 90 miles (145 km) west of New York City, the largest city.
Allentown is the home of Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, one of the world's most popular amusement parks, and Muhlenberg College. The city is served by Lehigh Valley International Airport.

Take a stroll through beautiful Allentown and enjoy the many historic buildings. Expand your knowledge of art in the Allentown Art Museum located on 5th Street. Make a stop at 5th and Hamilton and enter the Old Courthouse Museum to get a taste of local history. Admire the Allentown Symphony Hall on 6th Street or spend the day in one of the many parks.
The Allentown Art Museum was first built in 1902 as the First Presbyterian Church and a new wing was added in 1974. The museum houses the Samuel H. Kress Memorial Collection of Renaissance and Baroque paintings, sculptures and other local, national and international pieces. The museum also has the library from a Frank Lloyd Wright house on permanent display.
Enjoy an orchestra or a theater performance at the historic Allentown Symphony Hall, formerly known as the Lyric Theater. Built in the 1890s, the hall is home to the Allentown Symphony Orchestra and is frequently used for visiting theatrical productions.
Learn about local history in the Allentown Old Courthouse Museum. The first floor is dedicated to exhibits from prehistoric times to present times to give visitors background on Lehigh County.
Genealogical information can be found in the Scott Trexler II library and the mineral history of the Lehigh Valley is explained in the Geology Garden in the rear of the museum.
Parks are everywhere in Allentown. Visit the Cedar Beach Area and go swimming, take a pedal boat ride, play volleyball or basketball, or challenge yourself on the physical fitness trail, or for seniors, the physical fitness course. Enjoy canoeing facilities at Lehigh Canal Park including rental canoes, pedal boats, picnic areas, and nature trails. For fishing, go to the Lehigh Parkway's Water Shed Area where "Little Lehigh" is stocked for fishing and enjoy the 30,000 mature trout that are released each year in city streams.
Watch a sporting event at Bicentennial Park in the 4,000 seat stadium used for soccer, softball, hardball, flag football and special fund raising events. There are so many parks and many additional features are available throughout the city such as softball diamonds, biking, playground areas, ice skating in winter, and gardens in summer.
